Golden Shovel President Bethany Quinn Elected to SEDC board

Golden Shovel Agency continues to expand its voice and influence in national economic development conversations following President Bethany Quinn’s election in August to the Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) Board of Directors as a State Director representing Maryland.
Quinn, who over the past nine years has helped transform Golden Shovel Agency from a website and video production company into a full-service marketing, communications and strategy partner for economic development organizations, was one of eight new State Directors elected to the board for 2027. She will serve a two-year term beginning Jan. 1.
As a State Director, Quinn will work with other board members to increase economic development opportunities and continue to build world-class business environments in the 17 states that make up SEDC.
“I pursued a career in economic development because I believe in the power of this profession to transform communities and create positive outcomes for residents and businesses. Serving on the SEDC board will allow me to expand on the work we’re already doing at Golden Shovel Agency and help create opportunities that benefit even more cities,” said Quinn. “I’m excited to help communities across the south create success stories for their businesses and their residents, and to shape what comes next in economic development.”
SEDC is North America’s oldest and largest regional economic development association. In addition to the eight State Directors elected to the board, the organization also elected 13 Alternate Directors to one-year terms.
“SEDC members continue to set the global standard for economic development by creating opportunity and building the world-class business environments that define the American South,” said Council President Matt Tackett while announcing the organization’s new board members. “Our incoming leadership reflects the depth and expertise of the network that has helped establish the American South as the world’s third-largest economy and unrivaled investment destination. We congratulate and thank all for their continued commitment to our members, our communities, and the prosperity of the region. Together, we will build on our extraordinary foundation to protect and advance the American South’s global economic leadership while stewarding the legacy of our historic Council.”
