Minnesota’s summers are cherished by residents and visitors alike, and there’s no better place to celebrate summer than in Carver County! Scenic parks, pristine lakes, miles of hiking or biking trails and a dedication to family-fun programs call all ages to numerous locales throughout the region. Choose Carver County for a new favorite spot or try something new from the bountiful options below!

At the Beach and in the Water

Three regional parks - Baylor, Minnewashta and Waconia - include sandy beaches open through Labor Day to soak up the sun and cool off in refreshing waters.
Kayak, canoe, paddleboard, and rowboat rentals are available on weekends at Lake Minnewashta and Lake Waconia. Drop a line and catch a sizable crappie or sunfish from accessible piers or shoreline spots. Or if you’re learning to fish, dedicating programming offers expert-led adventures for budding anglers - equipment provided!
Boat access, picnic tables, and reservable shelters for a full-day retreat for families and friends complement lazy days on land.

Hit the Trail

Carver Park Reserve has plenty of dedicated space to take in Carver County’s views while checking the exercise box, too!

  • 25.7 miles of hiking trails through scenic overlooks amid marshes, lakes, and wooded terrain
  • 9.1 miles of paved biking trails as loops or connections to regional paths
  • 10.3 miles of Monarch Singletrack mountain bike trails for all skill levels, from flat straightaways to jumps, boardwalks, and skill zones
  • 27-acre off-leash dog park to let Fido run free
  • 9.2 miles of equestrian trails with limited trailer parking to experience the local beauty from the back of your favorite horse

The Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail runs nearly ten miles along the Minnesota River from Carver to Chaska, connecting to seemingly endless paths on other trail systems in the area.
