Buckeye, AZ is Planning for the Future of Aviation
July 30, 2026
Buckeye Municipal Airport is planning for the future, and Golden Shovel Agency is happy to help city leaders realize their airport’s power as an economic driver.
As reported July 29 in the West Valley View, the Arizona city located west of Phoenix has worked with Golden Shovel co-founder Ron Kresha on a number of plans for growth at the general aviation airport, as well as a strategy for attracting aviation-related businesses. Recommended improvements include infrastructure enhancements, a runway expansion, and other changes designed to help the city attract business investment.
The city is still in the midst of its planning process, but the ultimate goal is to attract “big splash” business opportunities and prepare the airport for the rapidly evolving future of aviation.
“Airport expansion is essential to Buckeye’s future competitiveness,” Kresha said. “Stakeholders and community members are aligned with the valuable nature of the airport.”
Kresha is a leading voice in urging airports of all sizes to prepare for a future where air travel is much more personal and accessible. That future includes electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft as well as autonomous flights that will make it easier for travelers to depart from their local airport regardless of their destination.
Kresha has also written about the increasing frequency with which site selectors and corporate decision makers are choosing private flights over commercial options, turning a local airport into a competitive advantage when pursuing business investment.
