Golden Shovel Agency Clients Celebrate Success in MAEDC Awards

Golden Shovel Agency is proud to announce that our clients have earned multiple honors in the annual Mid-America Economic Development Association (MAEDC) Economic Development Awards. Golden Shovel Agency clients have earned recognition for outstanding marketing programs, placemaking efforts and workforce development plans in the awards program, which recognize the efforts of economic development professionals to create vibrant, dynamic communities that support innovation and help residents and the business community thrive. Recent Golden Shovel Agency clients to receive recognition include:

Norfolk Area Economic Development Council

Placemaking: 

NAEDC earned recognition in the Large Division for a riverfront development project that included the creation of a three-mile whitewater park with seven engineered rapids. The project also included the revitalization of a park, upgrades to a main corridor bridge, and renovation of two pedestrian bridges. The development quickly drew a $25 million private development on nearby land. 
Workforce Development: The Northeast Nebraska Growing Together campaign earned recognition in the Large Division for its efforts to leverage placemaking and density to build connections among young people. The effort included collaboration with the Nebraska Aksarben Foundation and a  Wayne State College cooperative scholarship program to build workforce, support entrepreneurism, build arts and culture, and more.

Western Iowa Advantage

Marketing Program: 

Western Iowa Advantage earned recognition in the Small Division for a marketing effort designed to attract housing developers to the region. WIA created an inventory of available housing in the seven-county region and worked with Golden Shovel Agency to develop digital and print pieces to attract investment and development.
