Designing Digital Experiences That Advance Economic Development

Amy Whip is a Website Designer at Golden Shovel Agency, where she creates custom, brand-led websites for economic development organizations. Her work transforms complex community narratives, data, and positioning into clear, engaging digital experiences that help communities communicate their value to site selectors, businesses, stakeholders, and residents.

Amy specializes in designing modern, user-friendly websites that balance strong visual identity with usability, accessibility, and clear content hierarchy. Her approach blends strategic thinking with thoughtful execution, ensuring each site functions not only as a visually compelling platform, but as an effective economic development storytelling tool. She works across a wide range of visual styles and community contexts, tailoring each design to reflect a place’s unique character and goals.

Since joining Golden Shovel Agency in 2025, Amy has contributed to website projects for communities including Select Richmond (KY), the Omaha Inland Port Authority (NE), and Converse, Texas. Her expertise spans UX and web design, responsive layouts, interaction and motion design, accessibility best practices, and low-code platforms such as Webflow, Wix, and Squarespace. She brings experience designing for nonprofits, startups, and small businesses, with a strong focus on user-centered design and digital engagement.

Amy holds a UX Design Immersive Certificate from General Assembly, where she completed extensive training in design thinking, user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. She is also passionate about using design for social impact, regularly volunteering her web design skills to help nonprofits modernize their websites and better communicate their missions, secure funding, and expand their reach.

Outside of work, Amy has lived in Germany, Peru, and Singapore and speaks Spanish fluently. She enjoys exploring new foods, playing video games, and drawing inspiration from global cultures and digital experiences.
