Green Empowerment Zone Enhances Support for Eco-Friendly Development with New Website

Developed with Golden Shovel Agency, the new site will highlight the benefits of building and expanding green businesses in Contra Costa County

Martinez, CA – The Green Empowerment Zone (GEZ), a cooperative effort of 13 northern California cities designed to support growth of green business in the region, has announced the launch of a new website that will help the organization tell its story and encourage development in the region. Created in collaboration with Golden Shovel Agency, the leading marketing and communications partner dedicated exclusively to economic development, the new site will help raise awareness of the GEZ and its efforts to attract businesses and workforce to the region. 

The new website is modern and easy to navigate and offers direct access to information about incentives and business advantages related to building in the zone alongside data highlighting the available workforce and quality of life benefits of living and working in the 13 cities and two counties that make up the GEZ. The site is designed to establish the GEZ within the broader community and help the organization market itself to site selectors and others who make decisions about where to locate or expand a business. 

“This website is exactly what we were looking for, and it will be an essential tool for highlighting the local assets and competitive advantage that exists in this region, specifically tailored to stand out to our desired audience of site selectors and business decision makers,” said Alyson Greenlee, GEZ Economic Development Manager. “As the GEZ grows and continues to make recommendations on tax incentives, grants, loan programs, workforce training programs, and more to the state legislature, this site will help us demonstrate the combination of incentives and talent required to attract business and renewable energy investments.” 

Golden Shovel worked with the GEZ on a tight timeline to develop this site in time for launch at a statewide forum for business leaders. That meant working quickly to assess the organization’s needs and in just three months create a site that accurately represents the member organizations and provides an ongoing showcase for the GEZ’s efforts to support green development. 
“There’s no way that we could have achieved our goals without Golden Shovel Agency,” Greenlee said. “They are the only agency that I can think of that could have delivered for us in the unbelievably short amount of time that we had to get this website up and running for our governing board.”

GREEN EMPOWERMENT ZONE was created by the California Legislature to develop and administer tax incentives, grants, and loan programs and establish additional resources to support the development of green businesses in the region.
