IEDC’s Equitable Economic Development Playbook: Tribal Communities and the Community Development Financial Institution

The Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is essential in generating economic growth and opportunity within distressed communities of color, and indigenous communities are among the most economically disadvantaged in the United States. The indigenous national poverty rate was 25.4% in 2022, and 1 in 3 indigenous people live in poverty across the nation. The CDFI has a vital role to play in these communities' economic recovery.
