OTTUMWA, IA-- At the start of the year, the Ottumwa Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ottumwa Economic Development Corporation merged. Now, they recently released a consolidated website for their new organization- Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress (GOPIP).

The new website has content that will be attractive to a variety of audiences at the local and national levels, depending on the topic they search. In particular, the website will capture the attention of site selectors and commercial realtors for business relocation and expansion, as well as showcase its investors/members, events, and services.

“Building a new website is hard enough but consolidating the best of two separate websites can be almost as difficult. We’re one voice now, and content and messaging have to be consistent,” said Sharon Stroh, VP of Industrial Development and Organizational Communication.

GOPIP selected Golden Shovel Agency to redesign the website. The national economic development communications firm is recognized for its award-winning design and expertise in business and workforce attraction.

“Ottumwa’s economic development efforts have been aided by Golden Shovel for nearly 8 years. Their team has helped our organization keep its information and appearance fresh and timely - which equals more visits, more page views, and more time spent getting familiar with Ottumwa’s industrial assets. It can only be to our benefit that we have now enhanced our website scope to include community and business assets,” said Stroh.

GOPIP’s new work plan focuses on streamlined operations and improved functionality in the corporation. The reorganized partnership will rely on the strength and skills of existing staff. Organizational assets such as land, building, and financial accounts will be merged as well.

“Working with Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress on this redesign project has been a great experience. The customized online portal really highlights the community’s assets and demonstrates its economic growth potential,” said Aaron Brossoit, CEO of Golden Shovel.
