Experience the George Floyd Memorial in VR: Empowering Economic Developers to Fight Racial Injustice and Lift Up Distressed Communities
August 13, 11:00 AM, CST
The residents of this neighborhood and the surrounding areas have been suffocating long before George Floyd called out, "I can't breathe." PlaceVR and Golden Shovel Agency have produced the first 360-degree virtual reality video of the George Floyd memorial to encourage economic developers to look up and around and to experience the economic realities of living in a depressed community. Greg Kolbjornsen, PlaceVR Producer, and Aaron Brossoit, CEO of Golden Shovel Agency, will be demonstrating the video and sharing insights from the ground.
"Shooting this video footage moved me in a different way than I thought it would. There was sadness and humanity and then waves of compassion and amazement in how peaceful things were in the midst of such chaos," said Kolbjornsen.
Ron Kresha, COO of Golden Shovel Agency, and Bethany Quinn, Director of Content, will be presenting the case for the economic development of depressed communities throughout the nation.
"This neighborhood needs more than a memorial. It needs an economic lift that will change the trajectory of its residents. The George Floyd memorial has given us an opportunity to bring awareness and attention to the economic disparities faced by communities of color and impoverished areas throughout the United States," said Kresha.
We invite you to join us in a discussion on August 13, 11:00 AM, CST on how to uplift communities across the country. As James Baldwin in The Fire Next Time stated, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."
