Ellen Williams, Lead Copywriter, has been with Golden Shovel Agency since March 2020. In her time with Golden Shovel, she has grown from Copywriter to Lead Copywriter. Ellen has a B.S. in Microbiology and an M.D. She also honed her online writing skills in the golden age of blogging before influencers ruled the web. She gained invaluable experience in website management, social media, SEO, photo editing, and content creation for targeted messaging. She transitioned into working as a freelance writer, social media manager, and contributing author in several parenting humor anthologies.

Ellen's day-to-day responsibilities include client relations, research and interviews, and content creation/management. Ellen enjoys working on projects where she learns something new (pretty much every project). Her varied background is a testament that she is most gratified when she has to stretch and develop.

Her favorite thing about working with economic development organizations is delivering content to clients with the exact messaging they wanted to be conveyed. She really loves getting to know the folks throughout the country, all the while building relationships, and connections. Ellen’s family also has a small business so the joys and trials of economic development and business operations are a part of everyday living for her.

Ellen currently lives in Warwick, MD. Traveling brings her joy - from deciding on the destination, to developing an itinerary, to then veering off the itinerary to be in the moment. Ellen’s two adult daughters keep her and her husband on the move because their colleges are/were a bit far-flung. Ellen is an avid reader, whether it be fiction or nonfiction. She’ll also partake in audiobooks to squeeze in just a little more content while walking her rescue puggle, Roxie, for the miles per day she demands, skipping only for hurricanes and blizzards. Ellen is happy to spend her time being with family, learning, and enjoying the great outdoors hiking and kayaking… and defending the Oxford comma when the occasion requires.
