July COO Update: Micro-Sites for Economic Development
Wednesday, July 01, 2015
We are well into Summer and communities across the country are looking their best. Good time to get out and shoot some great photos that will keep your web presence warm over the winter. At the end of June, the Golden Shovel team caught a little of the golden sun at our company retreat. In a virtual company, the few times you actually see your coworkers really matters and we all had a great time reconnecting. Thank you to the whole team.
One of the new trends we have seen in the industry is the creation of micro-sites. In a nutshell, a website that is targeted for a specific purpose or market that sits within the umbrella of the economic development website. Some of the micro-sites are focused towards specific initiatives like workforce and talent attraction, some of them are for business or industrial parks like Upton Logistics Center http://www.uptonlogisticscenter.com/
that are key assets to the community. We are also seeing increased interest in micro-sites that are being built for specific audiences like a target industry or entrepreneurs. In each case, the sites are narrowly focused, have their own URL but are usually tied to the main economic development site. In the case of our Economic Gateway sites, the economic development website and the micro-site are connected and share information and news between them. The micro sites also make a nice landing page to support marketing initiatives targeting the respective audiences. I expect this trend is going to be expanding as economic development groups refine their business attraction strategies. Contact us for more information.
