June 2014

It has been more than just another new month for the Golden Shovel team. We have new sites launching for friends in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Utah.  We have exciting new developments launching on the Economic Gateway. We have a new team member. Lots of newness. Here are the highlights:

I would like to welcome Darren Varley, our design lead, officially to the Golden Shovel team. He has done excellent work designing websites with Golden Shovel over the years and will now be expanding his role to include GateKeeper service functions. Glad to have you aboard!

We are continuing to launch new sites. This month we are pleased to introduce our friends at:

Isanti County Government Center Opportunity2

Utah Valley Economic Development York County Development Corporation

The Economic Gateway is getting some fancy new features at the request of some of our loyal clients. Launching in July is the jobs/workforce module that allows for businesses to post available jobs to the community and for local job seekers to post their resumes. Working with the Montana Economic Development Association, we are developing a member directory module for better representing member profiles. Lastly, we are taking significant steps in improving our search engine optimization capabilities which benefits all of us.

We got a brief break from the conference circuit, but will be back representing at the NREDA Annual Conference July 23-25th in Cleveland, OH. The association is celebrating their 25th anniversary at the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. Nice choice, I’ll be there.  You should go too!

Thank you to Convergent for the excellent webinar on asking rights for economic development. It was very well received. Our next webinar is in July 16th featuring Claudia Viek from the California Association of Micro Enterprise Opportunity.  Claudia will be presenting on “Do it Yourself Economies” and the importance of micro enterprise in economic development, while sharing success stories from her experience as Executive Director at CAMEO. If you wish to attend,  you can do so at no charge, just get registered here. Hope you can make it!

Looks like it is going to be a busy summer for us. At least I won’t have to worry about too many new sunburns! See you in July.

Cheers,
Aaron Brossoit

Chief Operating Officer
