Sometimes it's not what you know, or even who you know. Sometimes, it's all about how you present yourself.
With hundreds of new jobs opening up or on the horizon in Dona Ana County, several groups are teaming up to make sure the workforce has the "soft skills" to land these incoming jobs.
Dona Ana Community College, the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance, the city of Las Cruces, Manpower, New Mexico Workforce Connections and several other organizations are coming together to present a series of three workshops to help prospective employees polish their approach to be ready for interviews.
The Job to Career Readiness Boot Camp sessions aim to show jobseekers how to best present themselves and cover all manner of tips, techniques and strategies to help land that new job.
"We are bringing all the specialists and experts in so we can bring this information to our participants," said Rosa De La Torre-Burmeister, director of DACC career services.
"I'm so happy this is coming to fruition. We always hear we need these (job) candidates, but they need the soft skills — the dos and don'ts."
