Development Spotlight: Ottumwa's Market on Main
Monday, March 10, 2014
Description: When it officially opens this week, Ottumwa’s Market on Main will mark the start of a slate of projects the city is hoping to pursue to revitalize its downtown, organizers said.
“This is one of the first anchors of the revitalization of downtown we’ve been working on,” said Kelly Genners, an official with the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation.
Vacant for a number of years, the now refurbished 12,000-square-foot Market on Main building will house a variety of amenities for residents. These include a year-round farmers market, a business incubator for local startups, a yet-to-be-decided restaurant and an educational kitchen operated in conjunction with Indian Hills Community College.
