Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman have scheduled a joint news conference for Friday morning to announce an economic development partnership.
Lori Holste, the executive director of the Western Iowa Development Association, said the partnership will involve increasing the marketing of the Omaha-Council Bluffs region.
Holste said that while Pottawattamie County is the main Iowa county involved, multiple Nebraska counties will participate, including Sarpy and Washington Counties.
Holste said state officials have started a new economic development group on the western side of the state called Advance Southwest Iowa. She added that Mike Dellinger, who currently works with the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce, will lead the effort for Iowa.
