Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett-Packard, one of the world’s largest tech companies, is coming to Butte for the Montana Economic Development Summit slated Sept. 16-17.
Ranked No. 15 on Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women list, Whitman, will join an all-star lineup of keynote speakers at U.S. Sen. Max Baucus’ sixth jobs summit.
Whitman is known for her work transforming eBay into an online auction giant that went from sales of $86 million when she started to
$7.7 billion the year when she left, according to a news release from Baucus’ office. In 2008, Whitman was inducted into the U.S. Business Hall of Fame.
“Meg’s tough, she’s smart and we’re eager to glean some of her business savvy and insight into how we can bring more jobs to Montana,” said Baucus in a prepared statement. “Our jobs summits have a proven track record of turning inspirational advice from global leaders into real Montana solutions — having Meg share her ideas with us in Butte is great news.”
Baucus first unveiled the news Wednesday via the new “Montana Jobs Summit” app. It includes interactive maps of the Montana Tech campus, agenda updates, and new networking tools to allow Montana businesses to make lasting connections before, during and after the summit.Click here to read the rest of this article.
